It is a familiar object that everyone knows, so it can help viewers better perceive the size and scale of other things in the scene (i.e. my shit) if there is nothing else in the shot to base anything on, especially helpful if something is tightly panned or zoomed in close up without a pan out/pull back of the camera to a further distance.

I could be a giant or I could be a midget, and you wouldn't know from the view I shot it at (just seeing my feet/hands etc.), which would possibly affect the perceived size of my shit.

That is all. Plus I smoke weed, so I usually have lighters in close reach
